About WebP in JPG
WebP in JPG is a small website with two tools: convert WebP to JPG and convert JPG to WebP. There is nothing else, and that is deliberate.
Updated: 7 November 2026
What this website does
Two converters, both reduced to the same sequence: choose files, set the quality and, with JPG as the target, the background, then convert and download. Individually or as a ZIP archive.
There are no further formats, no background removal, no image enhancement and no AI features. Every additional format combination brings its own sources of error: transparency, animation, colour profiles, metadata. Two tools can be built all the way to the end properly.
How processing works
The file is read in the browser, decoded there and written again with the browser's encoder. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is stored for the conversion. There are no accounts, no queue and no daily limit.
The output is checked once it has been produced: the converter verifies the file signature and MIME type before a file is offered as .jpg or .webp. If the browser cannot write WebP, a message appears instead of a wrongly named file.
What the tools do not promise
- No guaranteed image fidelity in percent: the quality level is a compression level, not a fidelity figure.
- No guaranteed smaller file. If the output is larger than the source, that is shown.
- No transfer of EXIF or ICC data into the output.
- No processing of animated WebP files.
- No recovery of details that are missing from an already compressed JPG.
Languages
Both converters, the guides and the legal texts are available in German, English and Italian. You can switch language at any time; the switch takes you to the same page in the selected language.
